Money for a project before it is financed: script drafts, a director and cast search, a budget, a pitch package.
The money that gets a film or series shot.
Money to finish a film that has been shot: the edit, sound, music, colour and deliverables.
Money to get a finished film to its audience: a theatrical release, a festival run, subtitling, marketing.
Facts come from the funder. Amounts, dates, who may apply and what the money is are read on each fund's own website, which every entry links to, along with the day it was last checked. The descriptions are written by us.
Money you apply for, not tax breaks. Tax credits, rebates and automatic incentives are left out: a writer does not apply to them. Labs, fellowships and contests are on the events pages. A fund that charges to apply is listed only when its site names past recipients.
It is checked every day. New funds are added, changed rounds are corrected, a paused fund says so. Funds change their rules between cycles, so read the guidelines on the official page before you write the application.
