The money

Amount

Up to €40,000A treatment gets up to EUR 15,000 plus up to EUR 2,500 for a consultant. A screenplay gets up to EUR 40,000 in two phases of EUR 20,000 (first draft, then a rewrite once a producer puts in EUR 10,000). Elaborate animation projects may reach EUR 50,000. Screenplay consulting adds up to EUR 10,000.

Rules

Only the writer applies, as a natural person, never through a production company. You need a residence or business seat in Germany (a branch is enough if you are based elsewhere in the EU or EEA) and one qualifying credit: a produced and released feature, series or documentary script, a published play or novel, a nomination or prize for a script, or a producer partner with a released film. Co-writers nominate one applicant.

When to apply

The next closing date is Dec 15, 2026. The dates below are the current cycle's, as the funder states them. Separate submission dates for feature projects and for children's film projects. The jury meets a few weeks after each date; a formal check takes two to four weeks.
