Feature Film Development Fund and Television and Web-Based Development Fund

Run by Manitoba Film and Music

Manitoba lends development money rather than granting it, in phases up to a CAD 35,000 cap, once a distributor or fund has put in the first fifth of the budget. Features must be aimed at cinemas; television movies and series use the parallel television and web fund. There is no deadline, but production financing is paused until spring 2027.

Up to CA$35,000Feature film development: up to 50 percent of eligible costs per phase, CAD 10,000, 12,000 or 15,000, within a cap of CAD 35,000 per project; a recoupable loan repaid on the first day of principal photography. The television and web fund also lends against a secured market trigger.
What it is
RepayableA loan, an advance on receipts or a conditionally repayable grant: it is paid back only out of what the film earns.

Resident Manitoba producers whose company Manitoba residents majority-own and control, with at least two years of producing experience and one credit of 30 minutes or more that was broadcast, streamed or distributed. At least 20 percent of the development budget must already come from an arm's-length distributor, fund or broadcaster.
