Neo utvikling (Neo development)

NFI's low budget talent program for first long films and series, in fiction, documentary and hybrid form. Development money can pay for script, treatment, research, a teaser or pilot, casting and audience insight. Half of the 76 applications in 2023 were approved, and 195 awards are listed with their creative teams.

A Norwegian or EEA production company organized as an AS applies on behalf of a director or series creator making a long format debut, and debuting producers and screenwriters in long format may join. Projects already in development under another NFI scheme are excluded.

When to apply

Applications are taken at any time; decisions follow in the fund's own rhythm. The page lists no closing dates; applications must be in before the funded work starts. Eight to ten weeks to a decision.
