Fixed sums paid straight to the writer to take a feature or series from idea to treatment and on to a revised first draft, with no producer required. The amounts are set, NOK 150,000 or 250,000 for the first phase and 250,000 for the second, and the award list shows 184 grants to date, almost all at the top figure.

Rules
Professional screenwriters and writing directors apply through a sole proprietorship registered in Norway's Enhetsregisteret. You need one of: a bachelor's degree or higher in an audiovisual field, a work with professional distribution (festival, cinema, broadcast or streaming), or an earlier public development grant of at least NOK 30,000. One project at a time, applied for before work starts.

The fund opens once a year. The next cycle's dates are not yet published; we add them when they are. In 2026 the scheme opened for new applications on Feb 1; a 2027 opening date is not yet published. About eight weeks to a decision.
