Film Production Financing Scheme and Financing Scheme 2.0

Run by Hong Kong Film Development Council, Film Development Fund (Create Hong Kong)

Hong Kong co-finances commercial features as a government investor: Scheme 2.0 puts in 40 percent of a budget up to HKD 10 million for films costing HKD 8 to 25 million, the older scheme reaches budgets of HKD 60 million. Applications are taken all year, there is no fee, and the screenplay may be revised after filing.

Rules
Hong Kong-registered production companies whose applicant, producer and director together have at least two released films behind them. Every director has to be a Hong Kong permanent resident, and so does one lead in two of the four main cast categories. Fiction features and animated features made for commercial release qualify; documentaries do not.
