The French door for filmmakers from anywhere else: a grant of up to EUR 300,000 for a feature co-produced with a French company, and a smaller sum to finish a film already shot. About sixty projects a year are chosen, and the condition that matters is finding the French partner first. Recent lists run from Bolivia and Serbia to Japan and the Philippines.

Who can apply

Applicant: A production company
Where you write: Anywhere except France
Rules: A director of any nationality other than French (a French director only when the film is not of French expression), shooting in a language of their home country or of the shooting location. The application is filed by a production company established in France that co-produces with one or more companies based abroad, so a writer-director from any country needs a French co-producer before applying. Separate commissions read first and second features and later films.
