ROSA'S APARTMENT - MADRID - MORNING ROSA (78) waters the geraniums on her windowsill, a phone wedged under her chin, talking. MAYA (V.O.) My grandmother has been awake by five o'clock every day of her life. Rosa ends the call in the middle of a sentence and puts the phone face down. MAYA (V.O.) (CONT'D) She has also never, in my hearing, said goodbye on the phone. EXT. MADRID STREET - DAY Rosa crosses against the lights. The traffic waits for her. MAYA (V.O.)
